Grilled fresh-caught (by me!) pompano, in Chef Marco's famous seasoning. Mine is the left-most. Also: Green salad, spaghetti squash, tortellini salad, 
Liquid Intake
   Coffee:  16 oz.   Water: ?? oz. and a couple of glasses of pinot noir and some beers.

I remember the first time I met Marco.

It was in a lot behind the garden apartments in suburban NY. I was seven years old, I think. There was a choose-up football game, and there were about four times as many kids as I counted among my friends. He was the best player, even though not the oldest, and a little bit younger than me.

Good to see him 47 years later...

Lunch
At Ling-Ling's Chinese Buffet and Grill:
Brussels sprouts, kimchee, and, from the "Mongolian Grill", my go-to dish: pork and chicken with cabbage, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and broccoli. This is the same meal, and the same picture, as always.

Snack
A terrible bunch of inflight snacks. Don't ask.

Dinner
Dim Sum from Ming's Chinese (really, really good).

Liquid Intake
   Coffee:  28 oz.   Water: ?? oz. and a couple of glasses of cabernet.

Daily Comment
One last gig before vacation. A pleasure to have the whole trio together - I enjoy this band (Bradshaw Blues) so much. 

Meanwhile, it almost seems like i am Fool is ready to bust out. People are beginning to commit to getting us heard. The fun show on Monday created a buzz - there were agents there, and every one wants to talk to us (by us, I mean J., although I've spoken with all of them).

One is talking getting us gigs in the major markets, including NYC, LA, Boston. Be still my heart! That is so exciting! That means all my family and friends getting to hear me play live for the first time in years!

But - that is the future, i.e., it doesn't exist. In the present, I will keep doing what I've been doing - it is just joyful to be there. In my (admittedly fragile) belief system, as long as I keep showing up, doing what feels right, things will work themselves out. Not for me to worry about how. Just get out of the Universe's way, and roll the dice.

On a separate note, tomorrow I'm flying down to Daytona Beach for six days. Posting may be sporadic.

A very light eating day produced an over-sized weight change. Today is going to be much less 'light' and more food, and tomorrow is a travel day, which will be followed by 5 days of vacation-eating, so this nice drop comes at a good time.

A blueberry-kale protein shake (almond milk, blueberries, kale, raw organic cacao powder, hemp seeds, hemp protein (7g protein), chia gel, celery, whey powder (24g protein), cinnamon and stevia-inulin blend).

Lunch
Line-caught tuna salad on Spring Mix greens.

Dinner
At Eskapes:  Tomato-zucchini soup, Caprese salad (chopped Romaine lettuce, black olives, bacon, cheese. hard-boiled egg), mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, mussels, lobster and bacon) over sauteed spinach, onions and peppers.

Liquid Intake
   Coffee:  28 oz.   Water: 72+ oz. and a nice glass of chianti.

Great fun tonight at an open mic. Good jamming, especially backing a couple of guys who do original songs in a somewhat disorganized, rubato (rhythm-less) way.

These things seem to have an ebb and flow to them, in any scale: Within the jam, within the event, within the day. And what actually seems to determine whether something is moving, and which direction it is moving in, is your attention. What you pay attention to looms large in your awareness, what you don't is unnoticed.

As a general rule, I try to pay attention to what's good in my life. Sometimes I'm distracted. Sometimes my focus lands on the unexpected, unpredictable. So be it. To a degree, I can control my attention - but I can't control the object it settles on.

Life is good.

It is still Winter here in Siberia-cuse, and I'm really put out by that - I'm tired, this winter has ground me down, and the fact that it has snowed every day for the last week is really just pissing me off.

Enough whining, then. The antidote to my being pissed off at any given moment is letting it go, and that means meditating and music, and I had a lot of fun playing with i am Fool at a happy hour benefit. The gig went very well, being one of the rare gigs we did our own sound, and the reviews on the sound were good.

The reviews on the band were even better.

Errands, including a run to-from Albany. Don't ask. 

I had a nice conversation with Andy on the way there, and with J. on the way back. There's something about these long trips that reminds me of things people I've been meaning to call.

Andy wonders why this happens - it's a lot to do with attention - sometimes it occurs to me to call somebody when I can't call them, or at least I can't call them and spend as much time talking with them as I'd like.

The car, especially on a 2-hour drive, is much better. no distractions, and when there are, I just pull over, or get off the phone. But usually, no distractions.

It usually makes for better conversations.
