Today, my toilet broke. The part I bought didn't work. To be continued.

Besides that excitement, I had an appointment to schedule my colonoscopy.

Done.

I'm still waiting for a date for my rescheduled preliminary interview with a vascular surgeon for my right leg's peripheral artery disease. There's a stent with my name on it waiting to resolve my calf cramping problem.

And sometime in the not-too-distant future, a couple of shiny new titanium knees beckons - but only after the previously-mentioned vascular surgery on my right leg.

I'm grateful for the kind of situation that allows me to address all my medical issues - few have it as good as me.

Is this an aberration? We'll see. That's a lot of weight loss over a twenty-four hour period, is all I can say. Unusual. But maybe, maybe, it's good! We'll see in the next couple of days.

Visited my Primary Physician, Nick Izzo, PA.

I like him - he's a young guy, and a good communicator, better than any of my other doctors here in NY.

He agrees with my Cardiologist that I'm doing fantastically.

We're moving forward on all the in-process things we started: A colonoscopy, fixing the vascular problem in my right leg, knee replacement.

The first two are ASAP, the latter is probably at least a year out.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to get good medical care.

I got an electrocardiogram (ECG) today, before my appointment with Dr. Hana Smith, my cardiologist.

The beautiful doctor said the ECG showed I was dong wonderfully.

Apparently, I'm healing well.

I have eight weeks left of lifting restrictions, and I can fly, as long as I'm not the pilot. I can put my arms over my head. I will have to wear a heart monitor for thirty days, too - it's coming in the mail.

In the apartment all weekend, with no problems. It does feel good to sleep in my own bed, but I'm back to getting little sleep, with less than six hours (one night, less than five) as opposed to the seven-plus hours I was getting while I was staying at Melissa and J's.

I'm grateful for my friends, and for my medical care people, all of whom are taking excellent care of me.

With (considerable) help from J, I moved back to my apartment today.

I had a little anxiety - I have been watched over for the last seven weeks, never out of earshot of someone if I needed help - and this ends that.

Still, it seems natural, and I feel ready. I think it is time. I think it is about time.

Although I have done my best to not be an intrusion and a distraction to J and Melissa, I know I have been, at best, a bit of a distraction. They totally knew what they signed up for, and were happy to do it, but I have to keep in mind that I must not have them do for me what I can do for myself.

Right now, that includes everything - I can do everything I need to, except lift things that weigh more than ten pounds. Effectively, that means I must do smaller loads of laundry and shop more frequently, dividing up my groceries among many bags, and, if needed, making more trips to bring them in.

So, with J's help I loaded up the car with all the clothes, toiletries, medicine and devices, did some grocery shopping (distributing my purchases among four bags), called J so he knew the timing of meeting me at my apartment, and went home.

I got there first (I was closer), and started bringing up the groceries, as there were items for the freezer and the refrigerator. I made four up-and-down-the-stairs trips by the time J arrived, and listened to him admonish me for not waiting. But I felt fine, and was happy for the exercise.

J brought up all the stuff from the house in a cart - yes, that meant he could have brought all the groceries in one trip, but, like I said, I'm happy to have gotten the exercise.

And that was it for me. I watched TV, I did my end-of-week portfolio update, I had some phone conversations, and went to bed. My old, familiar bed.

I'm grateful for my life, and glad to be back home.

Almost nothing going on again today - I had my final nurse visit. The only purpose of the visit was to officially discharge me. I spent most of the time during the visit watching her fill out forms.

That's that.

I'm grateful for all my healing - it has gone so well.

I'm pleased with this result - I'm back to the trend line and headed downward. One more day to go before I start fending for myself, so that is something to look forward to.

I admit, I'm unhappy with today's results, mainly because I don't understand them. I really thought, and felt like, I would weigh less today, and can't account for the serious one-day gain. Oh, well, I'll be home soon, and I'll be able to really control what I eat then.

I'll get right to it: Despite the best efforts of UPS, I have my new recliner. Set up, in my apartment, and my old recliner is in pieces in the dumpster.

After days of misinformation, my friend John met me at the UPS Customer center, we (he) easily got the fifty-pound box in the car and went to my apartment, where we met my friend Darren, and the two made short work of tossing the old chair off the balcony, bringing the pieces of the new chair (unboxed in the parking lot) up, and assembling it in under fifteen minutes.

Ha! UPS - you're no match for my friends.

Anyway, I like the new chair, it looks good and my initial sit says it is more comfortable than the recliner it is replacing.

As always, I'm grateful for my friends.
