Diet Comment
I was pretty well-behaved, food-wise, over the weekend, and Sunday, I actually ate very little, but I did have more than my usual amount of Jameson's. So, this is how I leave it. My next post will be with my travel blog format.

1:00pm: Dal Tadka (lentil curry) with kale, mushrooms and spinach on riced cauliflower.

6:45pm, at the Maplewood Grill:
This is the half of the reuben sandwich, sans the Thousand Island dressing that will be tomorrow's breakfast. Not shown: The half reuben sandwich I did eat, along with a small portion of freshly made potato chips and an order of Buffalo-style cauliflower (see pic above).

Diet Comment
Decided to make this Thanksgiving the very first one in memory to not do anything special. In fact, to not do anything at all. I did have some treats, but they didn't have much effect on my weight. 

Today's post is the penultimate food-centered post of the year. Monday's will be the last. Between Tuesday and the end of March, 2024, this becomes an irregular posting documenting my winter travels, as in the last five years.

Diet Comment
Nothing like feeling sick to prompt a big weight loss. I got my flu shot and Covid booster Monday afternoon, woke up Tuesday with a sour stomach, and began running a fever exactly 24-hours after the shots. So I felt like crap Tuesday, and didn't eat a lot. Big one-day weight loss is the result. My fever broke after about twelve hours, and I feel fine now. Taking tomorrow, Thanksgiving, off, post again Friday.

Breakfast
2:25pm:
Veggie omelet (eggs, Dubliner cheese, chopped spinach and kale, mushrooms, onions, peppers) and sweet potatoes with olive oil and Everything seasoning.
Lunch

5:00pm: Trail mix with mixed nuts, dried fruit and dark chocolate.

Dinner
11:25pm: Small 
salad (chicken breast, shaved parmesan, walnuts, tomatoes, Spring Mix, spinach, cabbage, creamy balsamic dressing), Miso ramen with greens (ViteRamen high-protein high-fiber Miso ramen and chopped spinach and kale), and a Quest bar.

This was a tough week. I had expectations, so I was disappointed. I also found out, from my most recent test, that my thyroid hormone level has plummeted. I believe that is much of the reason I have been at such a (relatively) high weight recently. I expect to start next week off further behind my goals, because, I'm going to spend a long weekend with my sister, and that means a lot of restaurant food. So it goes.

Because of that long weekend, Monday, a travel day, there will be no post.

I'm a little mystified by today's weight gain. Yes, my thyroid hormone hasn't been at a good level, but I felt lighter and thought my eating yesterday was on point. Oh, well.

I got some interesting news today, that might shed some light on my overall upward weight trend. It seems, after being stable for decades, my thyroid hormone supplement has been insufficient. My doctor called to tell me that, for the second time in two weeks, he must increase my thyroid hormone supplement. This is the result of blood tests done six months ago, two weeks ago, and yesterday. Weight gain is one effect of insufficient thyroid hormone, so there you are. Nothing I ate yesterday explains today's weigh-in result.

I'll take the loss however small. It's not a gain! Third successful day - yes, it could have been better, but the trend is good. I found out yesterday I have been exposed to Covid-19, now I'm waiting nervously to see if I got infected - no symptoms so far, but it's too early.
