Diet Comment
Good weekend, and I think I'm completely recovered from my surgery last Thursday, with no complications other than a temporary and brief water-weight-gain and a bruise on my arm that must have happened while I was under anesthesia, because it has nothing to do with the procedure and was not an IV site. I legitimately finished the month under 200 pounds, and I'm feeling particularly good about that today.

The end of a troubled week. The operation went smoothly, quickly and remarkably painlessly, so there's that. I did accumulate fluid, and my appetite was ravenous when I finally ate last night, a large amount of cheese, nuts, seeds, turkey and veggies, one meal that lasted over two hours.

The high intake of salt is also, in addition to the hospital drugs and intravenous hydration, causing me to retain water. I feel bloated, and weigh bloated. So it goes. Should be pretty easy to come back from, but at the moment, I admit, it's ugly.

I am not happy with myself. I have dropped the ball on intermittent fasting and have stretched on-plan eating to the bursting point by overeating. You can't do that, even with 'good' food. The result? I'm above the rising trend line again. A change has to come.

Note: I'm having a little outpatient procedure to block off my atrial sac, the place where most afibrillation strokes start, tomorrow and will miss at least one day of posting here.

So I got this new Pineapple Express vape, and got really stoned, and got the munchies last night, and, even though I'd already had a sandwich with breakfast, had a second and then a third sandwich after dinner. The dangers of marijuana. Two pound gain. Ugh! I won't even explain the cheesecake for breakfast, because I can't. Felt very weird and got super hungry while I was out shopping for among other things, breakfast.

I am pleased that my good eating behavior over the weekend had good results. Back on the 8/16 intermittent fasting schedule (slight violation on Saturday), I am pleased with the loss, but like the look of the chart.

I kept to my intermittent fasting schedule, but I really ate a lot of calories at the end of the day. Kind of a test for intermittent fasting, and it passed, with a nice loss. Back below the rising trend line, ending a difficult week well.

I tried to mitigate eating at the Maplewood by maintaining my intermittent fasting schedule, but couldn't quite pull it off, eating some mixed nuts at home before going to sleep. Every single time I've eaten there, I gain weight, but I like to eat there for two reasons: First, because the things I eat there are excellent - they make the best reuben sandwich I've ever had; and secondly, because I have friends in the kitchen. But I have to admit, it's not healthy for me to continue doing this, so I'm out, as of now.

The weekend was very challenging. On Saturday, I worked (played bass) for seven hours over a 10-hour stretch, and didn't have a chance to eat properly or in a timely (8-hour period of eating, 16 hours of fasting) that day or the next, when I ended up eating one meal too early (hunger) and one too late (after playing at the Night Drop). This week will be equally challenging, as my rehearsal and gigging schedule means I will be unable to eat two meals within eight hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and on Tuesday I'll be having dinner at the Maplewood (a sure way to gain weight). Oh, well. That's life. At least, that's what all the people say.
