I do the thing I used to do when my mother was screaming in my face: I go blank. This always infuriated her, which tempered and solidified my armor of not-there-ness.
Now, when someone suggests something I don't like, I just go blank, maybe with a little head-shake. I try to give the rationale for my opinions, but I state them as opinions, and don't press.
