December 17

Post 1028, Day 351 of 2013
- and 1081 days since I started this blog -

Daily Comment
Two weeks before the end of the year, and I have no plans. Christmas falling on a Wednesday puts the kibosh on a long weekend in New York or Vermont - I can't take off any days on either side of the holiday.

I have no New Year's plans, either, although I will be taking time off on the days leading up to it - I haven't decided what to do with them, and time's running out.

Ha-ha. Not really. If I need more time, I'll invent some.

And, I had a weird experience tonight. After rehearsal with i am Fool, I drove downtown to go to an open mic. Just as I parked, I got a call from Alex - we had a nice conversation, which I cut it short because I knew people were waiting for me. I hung up, grabbed my bass, and made my way across the slushy street to the bar. I opened the door, a friend was playing solo acoustic.

Someone shouted, "Reverend Ken" and the whole bar erupted in sustained applause. Norm from 'Cheers' has nothing on me.

Diet Comment
Not surprisingly, my two-thousand-plus calories of nuts and sugar, loaded as it might be with anti-oxidants, took a toll, and will take some time to remove. Worse, late-night cravings hit again tonight, so another day headed in the wrong direction.
