September 11

Daily Comment

I am frustrated, once again, by the difference between my priorities and those of my friends. Everybody in the band has responsibilities and attachments that get a higher priority than i am Fool.

These are legitimate, and understandable, but it also serves as a reminder that I am a generation older than they are, and this is one of those few times I feel that puts me at a disadvantage, because it negatively impacts my playing time with the band (my favorite playing time).

Our last rehearsal was in early August. Luckily for me and my peace of mind, we had a busy gig schedule, and I still got to play with the Fools regularly. But recently, I have missed the mid-week rehearsals a lot.
I'm hurting now that we're not rehearsing and we have only one gig booked, at the end of September, before a six-to-eight week hiatus.

Everybody in the band has teenage children, or younger, and other family responsibilities. Everyone has a more taxing/challenging job than I do. J. and Tammi are involved in other non-musical artistic endeavors, and Tami is also involved in another band that regularly plays paying gigs and rehearses regularly, as well.

These are all things that (reasonably) take priority over i am Fool.  And all things that don't factor into my life at all.

When I have gotten together for a 'regular' thing with other musicians, it is always clear that i am Fool is my top priority. That has always been acceptable (at least until there is an occasion where that happens).

I am a rare Fool.

  1. I really have nothing to say. I went to the chorus and it was challenging. But, I think I can do it. Love you, it will work out

  2. I think getting involved in the chorus is a spectacularly GOOD idea. I know 'it' will work out - everything does.

    Love you, too.
