I found out today that a pending job action - not one that threatens my job, or even changes what I do, just a bureaucratic change - has been put off again.
I've lost track of how many times this has happened, but I remember it was happening 'for sure' last May. Then, no, July, then August, then December, then January. Now, maybe sometime in May again. It's a year since I first heard it was definitely happening.
This isn't something I'm looking forward to, nor something I'm dreading. It is true, I'd like things to remain just as they are, but we know that never happens, right?
With this reprieve from having to go through the hassle of re-applying for my job - it is a stupid way of doing this, a waste of time, and adds pressure to a situation that doesn't need it - I celebrated, let myself get a little out of control. First, after work, I had a great rehearsal with i am Fool, after that, stayed until closing, accepting shots of Jameson's at Mac's Bad Art Bar until the last set of the night, when I (finally, and very late) got a chance to play.
And had a good time doing it, but tomorrow, I will pay the price in tiredness and weight gain.
