Diet Comment
I broke the trend, but not the trend-line. Yesterday I started 16-8 intermittent fasting. More movement would help as well. Still, June of 2023 has seen me at my heaviest average weight in over a year - just over 200 pounds. That said, it's only been a couple of years that my monthly average weights have gotten down below 200, so, as relatively bad as it being my highest average weight in a while, it ain't too bad!

Diet Comment
I am at my highest weight of 2023, and I am alarmed. Yes, I had a terrible breakfast, that left me hungry for the rest of the day yesterday, but I thought my on-plan follow-up eating would not impact my weight this way. I may have to force myself to be more strictly on-plan, and also start increasing the fast time in my ordinary intermittent fasting pattern (currently, a thirteen-to-fourteen-hour fast), and move that up to sixteen hours of fasting every day. I also saw the results of my pre-procedure blood work from yesterday, and there are a couple of new slightly out-of-whack results - nothing concerning, but the trend is not good (like my weight).

Veggie and cheese omelet (eggs, cheddar cheese, kale, spinach, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and tomatoes). Not shown: Low-carb spinach tortilla.
Lunch
6:00pm: A Quest bar and peanut butter, and carrots and celery with homemade mayonnaise.

Dinner
9:35pm: Salmon burger and edamame and mung bean fettuccine, with Wegman's Grandpa's Sauce Vegetarian spaghetti sauce

I gained a pound. I don't understand why, exactly. I may have to be more strict with myself. I don't want to, and probably won't, at least not right away, but I may have little choice.

11:45am, at the Starbucks at St. Joseph's Hospital: An everything bagel with cream cheese. 

Lunch
6:30pm: Turkey salad (roasted turkey breast, arugula, cabbage, chard, kale, spinach, chickpeas, walnuts, shaved parmesan cheese).

11:05pm: A
 Quest bar, 86% Peruvian dark chocolate with cacao nibs and sea salt, and peanut butter.

Liquid Intake
   Espressos: 1;   Coffee: 16 oz.;  Water: 68+ oz.; a shot of Jameson's Irish whiskey.

Diet Comment
If you saw what I had for dinner over a 2-hour period last night, today's weight gain isn't much of a surprise. None of it was unhealthy or off-plan, there was just a lot. I also think I didn't drink enough water, which means I retained more than I usually would have. Today, I have to drink extra water for some medical testing I'm getting done which requires me to not eat and drink anything after midnight.

Oatmeal plus (rolled oats, chia and hemp seeds, wild blueberries, walnuts, kefir, Greek yogurt, whey protein powder, nutritional yeast, mushroom powder, cacao nibs, cinnamon, stevia). Not shown: cream cheese and greens rollup in a low-carb, high protein spinach tortilla.
Lunch
Skipped.

Dinner
10:05pm: Cottage cheese. Grilled cheese sandwich made with Swiss cheese and Ezekiel 4:9 Flax sprouted grains bread. 
Carrots and homemade mayonnaise, a Quest bar, 86% Peruvian dark chocolate with cacao nibs and sea salt, and peanut butter.

Every. Single. Time. Every time I eat one of the delicious meals at the Maplewood Grill, I weigh more the next day. So, today I am up a pound at my weigh-in. Also, today is the first day of Syracuse JazzFest, which amounts to a bar crawl. I'll eat variously along the way, and it is unlikely to be on-plan.

Despite myself, more late-night, high-calorie eating takes its toll. Also, before weigh-in, I had had a terrible night, with very little sleep, and then, for the first time in more than a decade, a very high blood sugar reading. I'm hoping this is anomalous, and today's food will be very, very low-carb.

11:15pm: Lentil curry and cauliflower rice, Wholesome Medley trail

Late-night high-calorie eating explains why I didn't lose weight yesterday, but it was a very long day. Meanwhile, at least I didn't gain any weight, and I'm at my 7-day average and just under the trend. But I'm going to have to lose a few pounds more, and maintain that, to flatten out that rising trend line.
