Any undertaking, no matter what the outcome, starts pretty much the same way:
There's an idea, then some action taken towards its realization.
I have come to believe that both of these things are required - an idea without taking any steps remains an intangible, and directionless movement can't be distinguished from entropy.
My evidence for this is completely anecdotal, but it resonates strongly with me (which, in itself, keeps it in the realm of the subjective).
The corresponding belief is that given an idea, and some movement in the direction of realizing it, I don't need to worry to much about the 'how' of its achievement. That I need to remain focused on the goal, make movement towards it, and be open to any possible method of its attainment.
I think thought and motion might be unstoppable. I think, also, that the question of why some goals are not achieved is contained in this formula. It is easy to have a goal, and also believe in its 'unachievability' - I don't think that's actually a word, but you get the idea - which means negates the positive thought that inspired the goal.
Similarly, you can have a thought and a goal, and only keep thinking about it, planning and figuring out how to achieve it - a mental exercise that contains no actual motion. There are two parts to manifesting a dream, and, although it can be argued they are aspects of the same thing, both components are necessary.
That's why the meme of irresistable forces and immovable objects has become such a cliche.

Yesterday's semi-regular eating day (skipped breakfast, late snack for 3rd meal) did some good. Didn't have a perfect day today, off-plan in terms of how I expected to eat.

What does meme mean? Where did it come from?
ReplyDeleteLove you
I' m trying to apply your theory, of moving ideas and dreams from the realm of thought and fantasy to manifest reality, to my dream of awakening from this dream state and consciously, freely spontaneously live in accord with the reality of the Present. Any thoughts on this? - Love -
ReplyDeleteI think you're laughing at me, but in case you aren't...
DeleteIf your desire, or goal, is entirely in the non-physical world, you still have to look for a direction towards that goal, and you still have to be open to letting go of the 'how' part of how you're going to get there. If I am understanding your goal correctly, you have fixed on the idea of awakening from the dream state as the 'how' you are going to live consciously, freely and spontaneously in the moment. You would have to let go of that idee fixe (I don't know how to put accent marks on these letters). In short, you have two goals that may or may not be conflicting (impossible for me to know): awakening from the dream state, and living consciously, freely and spontaneously in the "reality" of the Present (which may, in fact, not be real at all).
But I still think you're just poking fun. - Love you, too.
I am not laughing at you. I am laughing at us (all of us) I wanted to make sure that I understood the dynamic you were talking about. Your reply pretty much states the mental conundrum that has arisen in me while reading your blog - Nothing exists entirely in the the non-physical world or entirely in the physical world. I am Mind and Body. Right now. This is the only "time" that mind (operating at relatively higher frequencies) and body (operating at lower frequencies) are rhythmically and harmoniously in synch. When mind moves away from this state of equilibrium (I say "away from" because the body is anchored in the present due to the low bandwidth it functions within. The mind moves through time and space more quickly and with less resistance due to higher frequencies) a tension is created,. a disharmony of time and place, The present is obscured as our attention is focused on what was and what might be (both are functions of time without place). Awakening from the dream state and living consciously is not a goal that i hope to achieve in time. It is my response to this disharmony of being.

Thanks. Joan, I don't know where it came from, but it has become a very popular word to use in things I'm reading...
