If things get regular with my music, and they seem to be, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are rehearsal/practice nights with Scuba Gear, I am Fool and Modern Mudd (respectively).

Monday's and Tuesday's sessions are full night, four-plus hours long. Wednesday's is two hours long, starts earlier and is over by eight, leaving me time to go to one or two open mics for more playing.

This is all I need to be happy in Syracuse. In fact, it's more than I need, and now really represents a surplus of the kind of stimulus that keeps me happy.

Playing music means so much to me. It satisfies most of my spiritual and social needs, puts a little (very little) extra money in my pockets. It gives me a reason to get out of bed (just as my investing gives me a reason to stay in bed).

And I make it happen for myself - and, for me, a hard-core ensemble player, that means going out and getting involved with other musicians. I get so much energy from that. I crave it, I'm addicted to it.

It is the bedrock of the lifestyle I'm so grateful for.
