On my way out of my second open mic, heading to my third, I stopped for a conversation with another musician.
We sat at a bench outside the (closed) ice cream stand across the street from Shifty's. The night was room temperature, comfortable, and talked for about a half-hour.
I knew him from performing with a singer-songwriter. He'd been a long-time associate, but recently, he'd been dropped from the duet and replaced. I commiserated. He explained what had happened without any drama, it all seemed good. We talked about what had been happening in the scene, how we were going to stay busy with music. And so on. Both of us sanguine about our prospects.
It just brought home to me how lucky I am to have found a welcome home in the music community here in Syracuse.
I never did make it to my third open mic.

Lunch
Skipped.
Dinner
Sriracha chicken breast, broccoli with black lentils and curry sauce, and a Quest bar.
Liquid Intake
