Here's a weird thing:
I lived in North Carolina for twenty-one years, and, although the weather is better, and I don't regret having moved there, and it was a good place to raise my son, after three-and-a-half years in Syracuse, NY, I don't miss it at all.
So maybe it wasn't a good move, back then.
It only comes up because Alex told me he's taking a vacation there in April. My only thought is, I wish it were some place I wanted to go.
When I went there in December, I felt I had closed the book on that place. To Alex, it is home.
