- 11 years and 215 days since I started this blog -
I had another really good music night tonight.
I went to the Limp Lizard BBQ, only a five-minute drive away, a little early.
I'd decided to forgive their horrible service from three years ago and have dinner there, while attending my 'usual' Tuesday night open mic.
Sure enough, this time, there wasn't the usual big crowd, at least not that early. One night, three years ago, I waited two hours to get service, and finally left to eat elsewhere, disgusted and ravenously hungry. I said I'd never spend a nickel there again.
I kept that promise (at least as far as the food goes; I've bought a few Jamo's since.
Service was excellent.

More important to me, I had a really good night playing. I got to do three sets, including getting to lead one. People were very, very flattering.
However, catching the news on the way home, I began to wonder if, after over eighteen months of no live music, if the good times were rolling to another close. The Dinosaur BBQ, an important Syracuse live music venue, announced they would not be bringing live music back, even as almost all the surviving local music venues have reopened.
And the surge of new cases of COVID are bringing back new shutdown rumors, and fears. My wonderful blossoming music scene could be gone again, too soon.
As always, you have to make the best of what you have now, which I hope I'm doing.
I'm grateful for the present, which, after all, is all I really have.
