In a conversation I had last night, I was asked for my secret to being happy.

I thought about that. I am not sure there is a secret to being happy.

For me, I made a decision to be happy, and everything that followed seemed to be somewhat accidental, not so much a result of that decision, and not following any plan of mine.

But it did seem to happen, to come together, after that decision.

No cause-and-effect claim, and too small a sample size to claim correlation.

Let's give props to the Universe. Showing gratitude always seems to help. Showing up seems to do the rest.

And, speaking of gratitude, finally, an i am Fool rehearsal tonight. Damn right I'm grateful.

Diet Comment
Apparently, nothing changed yesterday. Today, thanks to all sorts of scheduling surprises, like an i am Fool rehearsal, and a retirement party at work, consisted of a series of fails, including a very late dinner, eaten tired.

Food Log
Breakfast
Quest bar.

Lunch
Salad with bacon, shaved parmesan, baby kale, baby spinach, chard, cole slaw mix and balsamic vinaigrette.

Snack
A slice of pizza Margherita, because I can't resist free food, especially free hot food. As revenge, carrying it to my desk, as I sat down, a big chunk of tomato and sauce fell onto my lap, creating an embarrassing stain.

Dinner
Pepperoni and Swiss cheese, Quest bars.

Liquid Intake
Coffee:  28 oz.   Water: 118+ oz.

  1. sometimes i feel happy, and sometimes, i feel sad. I am the feeler, not the feeling. i try not to identify with the changes, but to go with the flow.

    1. Agreed. I think that would have been a good point to make in my conversation, but I don't think anything I said contradicts it, either. Now I have an urge to hear Tim Buckley.

  2. I had already watched that video and loved it. He is so cute. I sort of agree about macs. I use a pc at work and know a whole lot more about how to use it. But I love my iphone and my computer has never had a problem.

  3. I know. But there are some things, even on the iPhone, that I find disturbing (iTunes? Just kill me), as well. I also keep reading about the way that, since it seems to be at the top of the smartphone food chain, every competitor is one-upping its features. It is technology, and, to be honest, as great as it is, and as great as the customer service is, if it isn't doing everything I want, if it isn't easy to work with and use, then I need to look for what is. Like I said, the MacBook is easily the best computer I've ever owned, has been stable for 5 years (longer than any computer in my personal history, including mainframe workstations when I was in tech), and all I use it for I could do on a $200 chrome book. Apple's expectations on what consumer features are important to make people love their products just don't happen to coincide with the way I use them. I really, truly wish it was otherwise.
