Lounged around all day. Not a single productive thing got down.

Recovery from late nights (I didn't get home until 4am this morning - I get up at 6am weekdays) isn't what it used to be.

I'm pretty much wiped.

Went to a birthday party for a 30-year old open mic friend. There was a jam, and, wow - drunk people coming to play with their own priorities - just awful. I watched people behave badly - starting new songs before the last was finished, playing in the wrong key, playing a different tempo, all with this intense look of concentration, and, more alarmingly, resolve.

I'm too old for that. It was never okay to force your music on anybody, or to play with other people in an ego-driven, first-among-equals, my-shit-don't-stink manner, and it is intolerable to me now.

    2. I guess you're talking about 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' - did you play the link to Nina Simone's version. Stylistically, totally different from the Animals version, except both versions get the song's message across, and both are stylistically true to the performing artist. It takes a few listens to get into the Nina Simone version, after only knowing the song as the Animals' hit. I take it as a tribute to the quality of the song itself that both versions work. Still, the song was a hit 50 years ago (!) and hasn't been covered much since then. No reason why anybody under 50 would know it today (although I know some who do).
