Last night's hours of jamming reminded me of this:

Sometimes your best efforts come to nothing.

That's when I remember that, in one sense, your best efforts always come to nothing.

In another sense, they are miraculous in themselves, and we have no idea what happens as a result.

  1. That was interesting (about the book) there is a new movie coming out about it, too with Katie Couric. I am convinced the villion is sugar and white flour. The OA people got it right. Love you

  2. The villain is processed food. Both sugar and white flour are processed. Eating naturally-occurring, unprocessed sugar (like that present in whole fruits) will not cause weight gain, or limit attempts at weight loss. But other processed foods, like trans-fat (created by heating any vegetable oil), various coloring, sweeteners, grains (all have to be processed to be edible - even whole grains), stabilizers, preservatives, and so on (the list seems endless, which is why Gary Taube's for instance, insists the only real foods are single-ingredient foods), are also bad for you.

  3. i have consumed copious amounts of all of the above mentioned "bad things' and have been high on pot since 1968. Apart from the heart problems which i believe are genetic, and some teeth, i'm still doing fine.

    1. Sounds like an endorsement of pot, more than an argument in favor of eating unhealthy food.
