I have been taking naps.

I don't like to take naps - mainly because how I feel when I wake up - but it has become necessary due to my oft-mentioned-here poor sleep hygiene, which, due to the cost-benefit ratio for me, I refuse to change.

Naps seem to be an answer, although it is a not-very-pleasant one for me.

When I awake from a nap, I don't feel refreshed. I am a little disoriented, and feel stiff and logy (I had to verify that word - it doesn't seem to be widely used, but it is an accurate one-word description of my post-nap condition, and thinking of that word is the reason for today's post).

Yesterday, I napped through the start time for a concert I wanted to see, then it took me over an hour to get myself together to go to my regular Thursday night open mic, which meant I was late to sign up, and didn't play until midnight.

Which gave me time to eat a forbidden cupcake.

These things have a way of building on themselves.

I wonder what that loss would have been without the cupcake? We'll never know, but I am thinking, not much. On the other hand, my late, right before bed chocolate binge will mess me up. It's the opposite of what I should do.
