Excellent. The doctor was very pleased with me, and, presumably, with himself. He admonished me again to get regular exercise, but admitted that all my numbers had improved, even my blood sugar seemed to be under control.
Even my blood sugar was under control.
This has been my only real health concern since it was first brought to my attention almost twenty years ago.
I was first warned about being pre-diabetic in 1994. I don't know why I remember that year now, but I do vividly remember my doctor being very concerned (this was a doctor I had been seeing for six years by then, and who I continued to see until I left North Carolina in 2008), and telling me how much I didn't want to cross the line into type 2 diabetes.
Which, thankfully, somehow, I never did. On the other hand, this is the first time since then an MD hasn't been concerned with my blood sugar regulation.
For almost twenty years, my blood sugar has tested between slightly to moderately high. Last week, it didn't test high - the first time in twenty years of regular testing.
So, health-wise, I'm doing something right. I'm giving myself mental high-fives.
In other areas, I have halved my LDLs and doubled my HDLs, and this pleased my doctor, a firm believer in the healing power of statins and the sanctity of cholesterol level heart health risk control. Personally, I believe neither, but I'm not the one with the advanced medical degree. I didn't mention that I had only taken the generic statin drug, already reset after my last visit to a reduced dosage level, about half the time. I have more faith in the handful of vitamins, minerals, herbs and spices I take every day.

I think yesterday's candy snack is responsible for today's lack of progress. I expect tomorrow will show up worse, thanks to restaurant eating at lunch and dinner (complete with cheat food) today.
