I had a great time visiting LA.

There were lots and lots of highlights,  including my first legal cannabis purchase,  a new favorite fish taco, the re-visit to The Visitors at the Broad Museum, the visit to Gentle Barn, meeting Jimmy Haslip at the Baked Potato, hanging with Alex at a video shoot of a script he wrote, getting together with old friends from New York.

Probably my best trip to Los Angeles, ever.

I love Alex, and I also like him. When I go to LA, with few exceptions - visiting with friends from New York, for instance - I am just Alex's Dad, and, with no exceptions, I am delighted to be just that.

His film-making cohort is so embracing of me - they go out of their way to tell me how much they like and respect Alex, while at the same time making the effort to make me feel included.

I ate well this trip, to say the least. I had many things I felt were the best I'd ever had: yellowtail sushi, a fish taco, ramen, vegan dishes, ice cream. Of course I gained weight! I knew I would. Don't care. It's a big part of my LA experience.

I'm so grateful for my son, my opportunities, my life.

Diet Comment
I was certain I would put on weight in LA - I eat more carbs there than anywhere else I visit, and I knew I would be staying longer. I am actually quite pleased with myself not to have added on more pounds than I did. I believe it will take me only slightly more than two weeks to take the weight off, and if I'm wrong, it may well be quicker. Starting tomorrow, because today I ate most of my food at the gig, and it was entirely off-plan.

Breakfast
8:00pm, at Bru 64: Breakfast sandwich: Bacon, egg, cheese on a sesame bagel and some cinnamon coffee cake.

Lunch
Skipped.

Dinner
12:30am: Hard-boiled eggs and prosciutto. A Quest bar.

Liquid Intake
   Espressos: 3;   Coffee: 16 oz.;  Tea: 0 oz.;  Water: 32+ oz.; a shot of Jameson's and 2 beers
