Diet Comment
OK - today's weight is a non-weight - I didn't actually weigh myself. Let me explain: I had breakfast at about four in the morning, after a night of playing, in the company of half a dozen musician friends. This kind of hang is both irresistible and kind of important - social bonds between musicians who respect each other can't be taken for granted (and it's a lot of fun). One thing that gets sacrificed is the quality and quantity of food. To make matters worse, after a day of silly and fat-making indulgence, and a night of drinking, moderation gets left in the parking lot.

Breakfast
At Denny's:  The Ultimate Omelet, by which they mean everything lying around with eggs. Dry rye toast and hash brown potatoes. And (because the service was so awful) free lava cake.

Lunch
Salad (kale, spinach, chard, cabbage, parmesan cheese, roast beef, chicken, balsamic vinaigrette.


Snack
A Quest bar.

Dinner
Skipped.



Liquid Intake
   Espressos: 1;  Coffee:  0 oz.;  Water: 72+ oz.

This picture of a Chicken Cobb salad isn't what I had today. Instead, what I had was a Spicy Ginger beef salad(shredded kale and mesclun mix, grilled steak, bacon, black beans, walnuts, roquefort cheese, tomatoes and spicy miso dressing). Because the pic I took didn't come out at all.
Snack
A Quest bar. And a quart of butter pecan gelato. Why? Don't ask.

Dinner
Assorted dark chocolates. What is happening? I'm visiting friends.



Liquid Intake
   Espressos: 0;  Coffee:  18 oz.;  Water: 40+ oz.  And about 3 shots-worth of Jameson's Black Barrel Irish whiskey.

Diet Comment
In my last comment (from April 19, eight days ago), I predicted I would weigh-in at 209 pounds today. That was entirely based on my eating agenda while in New Orleans. I think that would have been accurate, too - I ate more breaded, fried food while there than in the whole past year, and drank a lot of alcoholic drinks daily - except for two things: First, I had no idea how much walking I would do while I was down there (I think I walked an average of six-to-eight miles every day!); Second, I didn't realize how much sweating I was going to do even while not moving (the weather was great, and sunny during the whole visit, except for one non-JazzFest day when there was about an hour of rain) standing in the open sun - I was prepared with hats to wear, but they trap heat a little, too. Anyway, just glad that it all worked out, and I am not hating myself for enjoying myself as much as I did!

Chicken Cobb salad (shredded kale and romaine, grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, hard-cooked egg and blue cheese dressing with a little sriracha).

Bootsy Brunch (bacon-stuffed buttermilk waffles with two eggs and cheddar cheese).

Snack
Assorted small portions of cottage cheese, hummus, guacamole, and a Quest bar.

   Espressos: 0;  Coffee:  18 oz.;  Water: 64+ oz. and a shot of Jameson's Black Barrel.

Diet Comment
This weekend was a "diet disaster" so it's lucky I'm not on a diet. All Saturday spent at a wedding means lots of wine, lots of carbs, including a crazy amount of sweets. Then Sunday, I ate a 26 ounce bag of mixed nuts and dark chocolate. That accounted for my total food consumption, but it was a lot. Uh-oh! I'm not sure this is fixable before I leave for New Orleans, where it is going to get much worse. I'm going to have work to do when I get back, that's for sure.
