My fears about the weather turned true, now I'll never know if I created horrible weather in my thoughts.
Luckily, there was a solution, and the Festival was moved to a big indoor maintenance shed, all the acts showed up and went on to give great performances, more or less on time. The fire-dancers did their thing, and then, about halfway through, the weather cleared up and it turned into a beautiful day and we all wished we were outside.
Human nature - what a comedy!

Bradshaw Blues at Fall Fool Fest '14. |
Of course, Sunday almost slipped completely away. I woke up, and sent thanks and congrats and love messages to all my band mates from Bradshaw Blues and i am Fool.
Which is when I heard that Chad Bradshaw had been in a serious accident, going over the handlebars of his son's motorcycle. Only his helmet kept the accident from being fatal, but he's badly broken: fingers and hands, both arms, one knee, fifteen fractures on one side of his ribcage and vertebrae broken or fractured.
Put a damper on things for me. I thought about not going out to my regular Sunday night open mics, but realized there were a few people I'd see who would want to know this bit of bad news. I ended up playing at one, not the other.
I visited him in the hospital. He was in pretty good spirits, considering.
I'm sorting out my feelings, and seeing what the fallout in my life will be, but basically, I'm just planning to avoid buying a motorcycle. As always.
Everything changes, in an instant.

I am now caught up in being afraid of what the doctor will say tomorrow. The good news- Teddy (Katie's dog who I have been caring for for 5 months) is moving to Hollywood. Katie is, too. Or has already. I am so looking forward to a quiet house. I am trying to understand what you two are saying and I am trying to focus on things around me but I do not think this is what you are taliking about. I am taking 5-10 minutes several times per day to just breathe
ReplyDeleteJoan, please call me today when we can talk (possibly for a long conversation) without interruption.
DeleteKen, that's "bad news" for everyone affected. i hope you both use the opportunity for growth.
Those 5-10 minute sessions will be very beneficial. Andy or I can tell you how to turn that into meditation (if you call him today, that is at least part of what he's probably going to talk to you about). Also, please read the little article from last week. It is very good and very clear (as simple as you could ask for without it being condescending) on mindfulness and meditation.
DeleteAndy, I am open to whatever this new 'time on my hands' situation allows. I have already volunteered any assistance I can be to Chad, and may use this time to further my guitar and upright bass initiatives, which have gotten bogged down by other events.
