Reasons to hate Facebook #1,239: The person who commented that we should send all the unaccompanied children in border detention centers back to Mexico, today complained about the ignorance, bigotry and disrespect from 'so many' on the planet, calling them "damned knuckle-dragging buffoons."

When I reminded her that I saw some of her past comments as ignorant, bigoted, and disrespectful, she got very, very indignant. I feel bad two ways, first because Facebook is a stupid place to have a discussion about anything. Period.

Worse, even though very brief, was the flash of self-righteous arrogance that accompanied my posting. Stupid, stupid, stupid. At least, very brief.

And, I'm the buffoon, for getting sucked in. It just got to me, for some reason. It is so elitist, and I don't understand why people identify with the ruling class. The people at the top would feed her to the lions just for thinking she was their equal.

We're all Bozos on this bus.

  1. So, I am glad to report that trying to be kind seems to be making me feel better, too. Who Knew?

  2. I think the positive effects of being kind have been fairly well documented for thousands of years (Golden Rule, much?), although it seems many people assume it to only be applicable on a quid pro quo basis. I've found it to work wonders.
