I made some moves to end my trading account, but there are a few positions I don't want to close just yet, and along the way I made two very short-term trades, so I'm still engaged. So it goes.
Spent the first part of the evening auditioning drummers, which was a lot less interesting and fun than it sounds. I had a horse in the race, and my horse won. Sorry, Dan, I didn't mean to compare you to a horse. I can't turn the sarcasm off on this paragraph. So, moving along...
Second half of the evening had a treat: I got to play a solo acoustic set, which wasn't bad... I met a few friends I hadn't seen in a while, also not bad. Then I got to play bass on a couple of sets, without a drummer. Usually, that isn't as much fun as it was, but with the people I was on with, it came out great. Those two sets saw the only dancing of the evening - and I was right in the zone.
It is proof of miracles - no, not the playing, my whole life right now.
Between rehearsals and gigs, I've got hours of playing time all seven days this week. I'm house bass at the Sunday jam at Rooters all of September (five Sundays this month!), I rehearsed with i am Fool Monday and again on Tuesday, I rehearsed with Modern Mudd tonight, I have the first of two Rooters Thursday Blues and BBQ gigs tomorrow, Scuba Gear rehearsal Friday (to replace the lost gig), and Saturday is i am Fool's Festival in the Park, where I'll be in sets with both Scuba Gear and i am Fool.
If any of this were less than fun (and even auditioning drummers has its moments), I'd have something to complain about - that's a lot of playing - but it's just always fun.
Nor since childhood, with its complete absence of responsibilities, can I remember having so much joy in my life.
