Seventy-four years ago today, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Thirty years ago today I married Nelida Sanchez.

Now on to things more relevant to the present.

My new relationship with Bradshaw Blues, now known as Bradshaw and the Night Beats, has improved greatly since I quit and am 'subbing' (for myself and/or the unknown bass player replacing me) on the gigs I was already committed to playing. I had two gigs with them Saturday, and after we straightened out what my role was, things went very smoothly, with warmth from Jim, and politeness from Chad. That's real progress.

Those two gigs on Saturday did take a physical toll. I was pretty out of it Sunday. I went to an afternoon jam, but didn't have the stamina to wait for my turn. I went home thinking I would do some chores, but napped. Then I went out to one of my two regular Sunday evening open mics, and when my turn came up, I played the last three sets - and was too tired to go to the second one.

It's tough getting old and keeping the crazy hours I keep. Just kidding. I love it entirely. Still, I'm looking forward to sleeping in beginning in February.

Speaking of which, I got my new Medicare card, which shows that I will be getting part B beginning February. That's an example of things working out better than I ever would have guessed. By a lot.

Grace comes in many forms.

My goal to stay under 205 for the rest of the year bit the dust on the first weekend. My remaining goal, to get to my low weight of the year by year's end, is still intact. One bad weekend cannot deter me.
