It's Friday. Last night, I went out after Fool rehearsal. This morning, I slept late. Got to work late.

Tonight, Fool came out of hibernation and played at our original club, Mac's Bad Art Bar.

It felt great, but it would have been even better if some more people had come out. I did have a few of 'my people' show up to check us out - but fewer than said they would. Those who came, really enjoyed the music.

My friend Pat, the owner of Mac's, had to go out of pocket to pay us a little - the door wasn't even enough to cover the sound.

It's tough in the bars. Mostly.

But, we put on a good show. A good four-and-a-half hour show. And most of it was really good. I'm very proud!

Playing without a good crowd is a lot harder than playing for a lot of people responding to what you put out there, but we persevered. There were errors along the way, but no song came apart so badly that it sucked.

Best of all, the new originals came out rocking!

At the end of the night, I was energized and enthusiastic. Pat, although he lost money on the night, was very happy with us all for putting on such a good show. He gave me a personal gift, a bottle of Jameson's Black Barrel Irish whiskey, to keep at the bar for my use only. Then he made the band  - and Cheryl the bartender (a fan and also a friend) - delicious Manhattans. We were happy. I have to say, it was a warm feeling. A good feeling: the club owner, the manager/bartender, the band - the only people in the big bar - celebrating the end of a quality night that only the joy of the music kept from going down as a failure.

It felt like a family dinner. But with scotch and vermouth.
