Before 2am this morning, I was feeling a slight malaise. Just low energy. At 2am, I felt a slight - and I mean really subtle - pins and needles feeling in my left shoulder. Then I felt that - very subtle - feeling move down my arm. I called my medical insurance's twenty-four hour hot line. After a short interview, she put me on with an MD. After I told him about my family history and my current symptoms (took about ninety seconds), he told me to call 911, and go to a hospital and have it checked out.
I called 911, they sent an ambulance. Not feeling ill at all, I changed my clothes, walked out to the street in front of my apartment complex, hailed the ambulance and was delivered to St. Joseph's hospital where they told me I had coronary blockage that would be checked with a cath-scope, and would unblock it and/or put in a stent if they could.
Instead, they found that a quintuple cardiac arterial bypass graft operation would need to be performed.
That was done the following Monday.
I am recovering unbelievably well, and am now enthroned at my friends J and Melissa's house. I am comfortable.
And grateful, unbelievably grateful to be alive.
