With no opportunity to play out anywhere today, I let myself be lethargic.
The day's personal accomplishment: A load of laundry done.
Doesn't seem like a lot, but it was something, and satisfied the day's ambitions as well.
I also dropped by my friend Al's to pick up a thank you note from the couple I married last month. They each wrote me a note, and I was very touched. To top it off, I was able to give Al a ride to the airport. He hadn't asked me because he was returning late Sunday night, and didn't want to mess with my playing. He was going to leave his car in the lot. I was having none of it, and took him to the airport, and will pick him up Sunday night.
I look forward to doing favors for people. It makes me feel good. I consider someone asking me for a favor to be giving me a gift, an opportunity to be, in some small way, good. Let's just say it's an enlightened kind of selfishness.
Then I got a call to sub for a friend who is not going to be able to be house bass for a weekly open mic after some surgery in November.
Just like that, things that worried me recently started turning around.
Lucky, and damned grateful, too!

I think my comments are not posting. I know I wrote last week and I don't see it. Anyway, I am still reading. Went to see Andy and Dennie yesterday and had a great time. Love you
ReplyDeleteI see your comments, and wrote replies to last week's. I think they don't post right away, and sometimes you have to expand 'Comments' to see them. So happy you had a good time at Andy and Denie's! Love you all!
