I am blessed with a job that is stress-free and makes no demands on my time outside of regular work hours.
Usually. I was contemplating a day off for my birthday today, but I am going to be taking quite a few vacations this year, beginning in March, and since vacation time is earned by accrual (as opposed to given a set amount to use at the beginning of each year), it wasn't prudent to take a day off that might be problematic later.
As Richard Gere said in Pretty Woman, "Big mistake!"
I did use an ad hoc work-from-home chit, but by 10am, I had gotten so crazy busy that my much-easier-to-work-at 2-screen office workstation seemed necessary.
It didn't help. I tried and tried, but no solutions to the problems I was working on came.
I guess it's just the law of averages catching up to me. Bound to happen sooner or later.
My vote for it happening after I retire didn't count.
In the big scheme of things, I'm still the luckiest guy I know, still smiling, and, while waiting for various searches and inquiries to run, I did manage to keep up with the (literally) hundreds of birthday wishes that came to me via Facebook.
That's a lot of Happy Birthdays, but not as many as my blessings.
They're beyond count.

ReplyDeleteJoan - I think Quest bars are great! And, yes, they're going mainstream. They're now available at my supermarket (Wegman's). For what its worth, the ones I like are Cinnamon Roll and Almond-Coconut (Natural, no artificial sweeteners) and Double Chocolate (not natural, but the artificial sweetener is dead last on the ingredients list).
ReplyDeleteI think I bought chocolat and chocolate chip
