#1347: Wednesday, January 14 - Cold is better

Daily Comment
Update: I woke up feeling much better today. For the first time in five days, I have no pain swallowing, before taking anything for it (Throat Coat and Extra-strength Tylenol, you're in my rear-view now). I'm glad it was so quickly contained.

Now, back to our regular Daily Comment.

I'm thinking about the weather today. How it affects me, and how it doesn't. Basically, I'll take the current below-zero temperatures with no rain or snow over warmer weather with some precipitation.

Cold weather can be pretty easily compensated for. Bad driving conditions are more difficult to overcome.

After days of not leaving my house due to illness, I stepped out into the sub-zero temperature and felt refreshed. I have adequate - more than adequate - clothes for coldness. I'm fine with cold (up to a point: I've never been one for outdoor Winter sports).

In fact, it is a lot harder to deal with heat. I don't particularly like pools, and besides getting into the water, there's a limit to how much a person can do to combat high heat. Once you're down to bare skin, you need to find shade, and cooling, right?

This is what people in very cold places think about in the cold months. This, and, of course, being somewhere else.

I am, though, very grateful to be where I am. I am warm (indoors), clothed, well-fed, healthy, and happy. I have abundance.

Diet Comment
Nothing special about yesterday's eating, other than its low-calorie component, and lack of snacks. Today however, I will be dining out twice. I expect this will be reflected, negatively, in tomorrow's weigh-in.

  2. I agree. I have more problems with the heat as I get older. I also bought a great coat last year.
