So, my intentions are good. There is a wide gap, though, between my thoughts and actions.

Thinking, it turns out, isn't all its cracked up to be. I'm not sure what the alternative is in social situations (I know a few alternatives, but they're useless around other people).

Non-thinking will probably take you further, but who knows how to navigate a non-thinking world? Also, non-thinking makes you vulnerable to accepting other people's thoughts.

That's no good.

Mindfulness seems infintely more useful than non-thinking, but for me it is so... hard, except when I'm playing music.

I wonder why?

No I don't.

  1. First thought (!) while reading your comment:
Thinking is automatic, as is the ego that propels it. It never stops, as do all the unconscious functions of physical, dual being continue without conscious participation. You know this intellectually, but can also see the truth of this by observation, without interpretation. Identify with the one who has the thoughts, don't identify with a thought or thoughts. i think you will see that the thoughts come and go, are interchangeable, and have no real power or effect on anything other than that which identification attributes to them. The alternative to thinking is not non-thinking. It is your conscious awareness, that underlies and overflies thought and ego.

more to follow as i figure out what words to use. Feel free to ask questions, PLEASE.

  2. What do you do when you improvise? i think that you stop trying to control the situation and use thought only for execution of your Buddha Mind's immediate response to the now/here ever changing situation. You don't try to anticipate, strategize, manage, think through and calculate. You just react intuitively. You trust the spontaneity. You go with the flow wherever it might take you.
