Everything that happens, especially things that happen with intent, creates unintended consequences.
This is not only an observable phenomenon in the material world, it is the fundamental problem with humans' perception of space and time, and Newtonian physics ("... Every action) and Euro-centric philosophy (cause and effect).
It is the misunderstanding of karma, the principle of causality where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual.
It seems intuitively obvious to me that unintended consequences, the actions of other people, dominate day-to-day cause and effect.
And are ignored (denial) to give the illusion of non-randomness, of individual's control over their destiny.
I am reminded of Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy (later becoming a series of prequels and sequels), read many years ago. One of its' fundamental conceits/plot devices was the idea that, while an individual's or group's actions are unpredictable, the actions of a large population (e.g., every living being), are.
In the context of this comment, that would be because the piling up of unintended consequences, if they could be quantified, would demonstrate that a super-consciousness, made up of all consciousness, would behave in consistent ways, since the intentions of all would be executed.
Possibly the only way to not have unintended consequences: Take into consideration all intentions, thereby including every possible consequence.
Of course, once you did that, your own intentions are lost in the crowd.
Or accept that anything you cause affects everything in ways beyond your ability to perceive, and be in and act in the moment. Which is always the case. Belief otherwise is an illusion.

I think you forget that day to day weight is not entirely based on what you eat but also on what your body is doing. Could be excess water retention, etc.
