I had my regular 4-month check-up today (following blood work last week). Great results. My doctor is so proud of himself!

He changed my schedule to twice a year, indicating he believes everything is stable and under control, and I haven't had a schedule like that in decades, and this doctor is much more conservative than my previous doctor, who I saw for twenty years down in North Carolina.

I still think being back on statin drugs is at least partially responsible for my recent run-up in weight (look at the chart - I restarted taking statins in February, I think).

And, in completely irrelevant but nice news, a stock in my portfolio ran up 15% today - I have never seen that much action, up or down, in any investment in any one day.

Okay, back in the somewhat real world, I had little hopes for tonight's i am Fool gig, since other good bands I had seen at World of Beer in Syracuse's Destiny Mall all seemed a bit flat. It turned out to be quite the opposite - an amazing good time, and one that left the audience, and the staff(!) dancing, yelling, and screaming! Five encores, and, going in, we were thinking they might pull the plug on us if we were still playing at the announced end-time.

I felt like a Beatle.

Once again, low expectations lead, somehow, to over-deliverance. I'm so grateful.

Diet Comment
Yesterday's dining out (two big meals) with a little off-plan kicker continued the bad news. Today's schedule of work-straight to gig (off-plan meal and free beer part of the pay) doesn't bode well for any sort of loss tomorrow. At least I got some greens in at breakfast, then a small lunch eaten at work.

  2. I think you have stopped eating meals and are really eating differently than you used to eat. I think I have also said something about the quest bars. Love you

  3. Both comments have me thinking. Both true. I have been eating cheese, pepperoni and, yes, Quest bars, because of the convenience factor of not prepping anything. I bought a dozen boxes of Quest bars beginning about 2-3 months ago. The thing is, there's been a subtle lifestyle change that has me busy during dinner time quite a few nights/week, and I needed a quick go-to that I could eat on the run or when there were no on-plan options. Looking at the Quest bar ingredients, they are one of only two snacks that are completely within the most orthodox interpretation of my diet, and are even (although I don't care about this), the lowest-calorie option.

I don't know exactly when I started to eat cheese again. It was specifically excluded from my diet when I was first losing weight, but I can't figure out why. Pepperoni is just delicious fat and protein, neither of which is a problem for me.

Most days, I still eat a huge amount of vegetables.
