#2380: Tuesday, November 5: Some stats

A couple of stats are on my mind today.

The less relevant is that I am over ninety days in a row with my Duolingo Spanish lessons. I spend about twenty to thirty minutes a day on this. I'm getting better, although, after three months, I'm nowhere close to good.

The biggest challenge to my understanding and speaking Spanish is going to be my poor hearing. In the lessons, you are often asked to translate spoken sentences. It is rare when I don't have to use the slowed-down option to get this right, and even then, sometimes I mis-hear what is being said.

The second stat is some analysis I just did, that indicate that October was a great month for maintaining my weight, setting records in two areas.

My average weight was the lowest for any month since I started tracking the month of January, 2011. I have seen mostly lower average weights this year - with a few months where my average weight was under 200 pounds. October's was by far the lowest ever, with a weight under 196.75.

It is also the first month on record with no days above 200 pounds. I feel that this is vindication for my dietary approach.

Which, to recap, is to have vegetables and protein (meat, fish, fowl, eggs) at every meal.
I have also seen the results of almost daily intermittent fasting, where I am eating all my food within a six-to-eight hour window.

Whatever, all things considered, my health is good, I'm learning a new language, and I'm grateful for both.

Pleased to think (while admittedly it may be wishful thinking), that 196 might be my new 'set point' - if there is such a thing. We'll see. Meanwhile, better down than up, right?
