Daily Comment

After a hectic couple of weeks, things seem to be back to normal on the job. That's a relief, I guess.

Both my bands played at a benefit last night - which makes it a very good night for me. I re-established some connections, met some new people, saw some great performances, and had a great time.

The benefit was for the son of a friend who was in a motorcycle accident, and seriously injured both legs. He was the sole support of his family, and has lost his livelihood due to the accident.

I reflect on this because it reminds me of how extremely lucky I am to be happy and healthy and able to live without compromise. Not that my friend's son can't be happy and healthy and live without compromise, but for him it is difficult, for me it is easy.

At least now. And I am mindful not to take it for granted.

I don't know if there's fate, I don't know if we're just sacks of programmable chemicals living only the illusion of controlling our own actions, our own lives. I know that right now, I am very happy with my lot. I remember that in the past this wasn't always the case. I don't have a clue how the future will play out.

Armed with this lack of insight, I had a fine meal at the famous Dinosaur BBQ (where the event was held). I did it with no regrets, even though it wasn't close to the kind of food I have decided to eat.

It was delicious and worth enjoying. A celebration of my status quo, even in violation (slight) of the status quo.

Diet Comment
An anomaly? With all the off-plan eating yesterday, which included ice cream, a cookie, potatoes, barbecue sauce and not-made-by-me cole slaw, plus some serious late snacking, today's loss makes me wonder about yesterday's results - I would have expected a weight gain.

Protein shake with almond-coconut milk, kefir, kale, large organic egg, whey powder (36g protein), hemp seeds, hemp protein (7g protein), raw organic cacao powder, chia gel, moringa leaf powder, cinnamon, celery and stevia-inulin blend.

Dinner
London broil and Quest bars.
