A beautiful weekend in the books. Now, back to work/rehearsal/gigging/jamming. Lucky for me that I get to spend so much time playing.
One thing that will change when I don't have to work: I'll stay later at my musical events on work nights.
I miss a lot of fun, and lots of times, some playing, just from having a self-imposed deadline for when I feel I need to leave. I feel it's necessary, mostly as a health measure - there are limits to how much sleep I'm willing to sacrifice, especially in front of a day that goes from work to a gig or a rehearsal after.
Many times (really, a lot!), I have left a good session without ever getting to play because of that deadline. Last night I took advantage of an early set to leave, and missed a (reportedly) spectacular set by a friend who was returning to the area for the first time since leaving to build a career in Memphis.
I'm not complaining, I'm twice grateful - I woke up this morning (1) feeling refreshed (2). But I'm looking forward to being able to hang in the scene 'til the end. Without consequence.
In my experience, that's when a lot of good things go down: When all that're left in a place are the pros.

Actually, it looks like the line is leveling off.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I actually talk about a new goal today (which you will read tomorrow). Thing is, it's levelling off too high for my liking. I want it to level off at or below 205.
