The snow is bad, and that means it is normal here. Not needing to drive too far (if it were important, I could have walked everywhere I had to go today) means I am minimally inconvenienced. I did get some extra exercise clearing the snow (and underlying ice) off the car - twice.
Late this afternoon it finally stopped.
The main drawback to living in Syracuse is the Winter weather - it is the snowiest city in the US.
Which means very little to me. I have a simple plan when it snows: I don't drive until the roads are clear (unless it's to work, just over three-quarters of a mile away). Simple.
The best part about the shitty weather is it is never a surprise. At the first flake, snow-plows start warming up.
This is my sixth winter here, and the worst thing that ever happened was getting stuck on a side road without enough traction to go on. It took AAA 20 minutes to get me back on the road. I was less than a quarter of a mile from home.
The second worse thing was when a thick sheet of ice slid off the roof of a semi truck and just missed my car's windshield - it hit the roof about a foot behind the windshield. If it had been just two inches lower, it would have wiped me out, maybe decapitated me.
It didn't kill me, though. It didn't even slow me down. No, the worst thing that happens in the snow is this: Open mics I had planned to go to are canceled. Boo-hoo!
It is just - look, I know good weather is fun, etc. but it isn't essential for fun to be had. These days, almost everything I do for fun happens indoors, usually at night, and not often interfered with by weather.
As it should be.

That must be magic candy. I don't understand how I could eat it and still lose weight. Makes no sense. But now it's gone.Diet Comment
