Daily Comment

Good news, the open mic I enjoyed so much in the late part of last year is back, picked up at a nicer (to play in, anyway) bar.

There's a lot to like about that - I really love playing with the other musicians in the house band (they seem to feel the same way), this club is fitted out much better for live music, and there is that little bit of extra spending money.

In other news, the business card/invitations for my birthday party arrived today. I get all my orders at work, so the first thing I did was drop some off with a few co-occupants (I can't really call them co-workers, since I'm the only one at my workplace in my department) in the office: The few who had bothered to return a smile or a greeting in the five years I've been here.

'Civil' servants indeed.

The most laughable part of the day was me at someone else's retirement celebration at work. Of course, I didn't know the person retiring, she was in payroll, I think. But I just made off with an unnecessary slice of pizza, because I can't resist free food. Then a little later, I had some of the left-over cake, sabotaging my eating plan, with no provocation except the bad food being there.

So it goes.

Diet Comment
I thought my weight was going to go up after a night that included more than my usual amount of alcohol, followed by a high-calorie, very late-night snack. But, no-o-o-o. That started my day with a smile.

Breakfast
A Quest bar.

Lunch
A salad with kale, spinach, chard, arugula, cole slaw mix, shaved Parmesan cheese, sriracha chicken breast and balsamic vinaigrette. Preceded by a slice of pizza, followed by a big piece of birthday cake. Fail!

Dinner
Venison pepperoni with cole slaw and a Quest bar for dessert.

Snack
Two Quest bars.

Liquid Intake
   Espressos: 1  Coffee:  24 oz.;  Water: 80+ oz.

  1. this new office I am in is terrible for that. there is always some cake/cookie/candy available. usually home made. very difficult

  2. The trick is to take one, and enjoy it. No guilt. Try to never have two off-plan days in a row.
