I don't weigh myself on Saturdays and Sundays (also, not when traveling).
When I first started this blog, I did. Then, the blog was merely a public food journal, part of a medically required (though not medically recommended or supervised) weight-loss plan.
For six months, I followed the plan religiously, and met my goal. By that time, both the weighing and journaling had become habit, and routine.
That plan included one 'free' (aka, cheat) day, where all gloves were off, and I could eat as much off-plan food as I cared. I ate things like pizza, ice cream, cake, pasta, etc., that were completely excluded in a plan that had roughly the same food requirements (protein, veggies, beans) at all other meals (yes, there was no spreading around the required elements in different meals. Every meal had those three things - except on the cheat day.
Cheat days were almost always on the weekends. Because of this, weekends were the most difficult to journal. So, when I decided to make some changes to the plan - it had been recommended by my doctor to lose the 'cheat day' and stick to the rest of the plan - I made a change to the journal as well.
I added a daily comment. Which was I felt to be an improvement. I enjoyed writing it for a short while, but it became too much like work. So much so that I put the journal on a workweek schedule, and stopped journaling weekends.
I am less strict with my eating since that change. Weekends also became a less meaningful distinction in my life after I retired.
In general, I still do the majority of my off-plan eating on the weekends, and, in order to spend time with my mostly still-working friends, I do the majority of my short-trip traveling on weekends as well.
Which makes my weekends tthe ime where I feel accountable (the reason I started writing a blog in the first place) only to myself.
Now, if anything happens during the weekend that is both memorable and shareable I will right about it in the next weekday post. By shareable, I'm talking about a deep conviction that everybody deserves their privacy, so I never share experiences I've had that are specific to, and can't be described without mentioning, other people. I never feel like violating that.
I also admit to not wanting to share all my experiences. For instance, I rarely mention any drug-centric experiences I have or talk about my drug use, past or present. Or my sex life (I just threw that out there. I do not have a sex life).
So, what happens on the weekend?
None of your business, unless I decide it is something that needs sharing. I'm grateful for your understanding.
