Monday, I drove a van full of Scuba Gear people and all our equipment down to New York City. I drove us all back on Tuesday.
In between, we played at a benefit for the Q Center at Midoma, an art gallery/boutique/salon.
The other band members stayed in a hotel, I crashed at Merv and Lena's, my regular NYC residence.
I asked to drive. It made the most sense, I've driven the route more than anyone, know it by heart. Know where to stop. I have a good attitude about driving and a less-good one about being a passenger.
It worked out fine. The weather was beautiful, and again on the trip back. We ran into some obstacles, and they were handled.
When we got to NYC, I got really busy: Load-in, set up the PA and my bass rig. Then the fun really began: I got to make music for some dear old friends - many of whom hadn't heard me play bass since the seventies. After, I got to hang with Merv (Lena was laid up with knee problems, didn't get to see her 'til breakfast Tuesday) who not only waited around, but helped with load-out. Then we hung at a bar, and walked back to his place, where he contributed some 18-year-old Jameson's Special Reserve to the occasion. I love him.
Next day, I spent the morning hanging with Merv and Lena, had a lox-eggs-and-onions breakfast, then went to meet up with the group at their hotel.
We had to give an hour's notice to get the van out of parking, so I gave them a little tour. I enjoy being a tour guide. The group ate it up.
We stopped at Breads Bakery on our way out (more tour guide stuff on the way) for almond croissants and chocolate babka (one for the ride up, three as gifts). There's a few pounds of weight gain right there. No regrets.
It was a lovely couple of days, a good experience all around. I have so-o-o much to be grateful for.

Today's Weight: 203.9 lbs.
Previous Weight (9/29/17): 199.8 lbs.
Net Loss/Gain: + 4.1 lbs.
Diet Comment
This weight gain (over five days) was expected, anticipated, and is very temporary. My trip down to New York City was full of carbs and sugar, including bread, cake, pasta, lots of fatty stuff, too (cheese and barbecued pork and beef), and an unusually large amount of alcohol. It was great, and I'm happy to pay the price going forward.
