With my birthday, and the next-day party behind me now, I've gotten back to business.

Last night, instead of watching the Super Bowl, I played at a jam session, and had a great time. I think I made some good music, too.

I did see the last thirty seconds of the game, and that was enough. I used to be into spectator sports, now, now at all.

I see almost everything that isn't making music as a distraction.

Diet Comment
Beginning at around three-thirty in the morning on Saturday, at an unusually late post-gig breakfast. When I woke up Saturday evening, I was starving, and ate an enormous amount of food very quickly. Sunday, was crazy-high in shitty carbs. And, so, nobody has to worry about my quick weight loss. It comes back on even faster. Today, my eating will be very sparse.

  1. Can't making music be a distraction, as well? i think that conscious breathing and being attentive are the only "acts" that allow one to do anything else intentionally. No matter what you are doing, if it doesn't initiate from conscious breathing and attention rooted in the here and now, then it is a distraction. On the other hand, the act - making music, or really anything else - can bring you into this state of presence and awareness.

  2. Making music can be a distraction from a lot of things, but since I do very little intentionally - except look for opportunities to make music - I'm not sure I'm even conscious most of the time...
