After more than three months of traveling, I'm home.
Except for a week when I'll go New Orleans for the Jazz and Heritage Festival, I'll be local until next December.
This year, I eliminated Lisbon and Chiang Mai (at least for now) from my list of post-Syracuse places to live. Lisbon for mostly 'medical' reasons - its geography means it is not walkable. Chiang Mai, because new visa regulations make year-round residency impractical and too difficult. It is my hope that this changes back.
I had spectacular visits to both places, enjoying myself hugely.
The US part of my visit - South Daytona Beach and New Orleans was a bit strange, due to the mental state of the friends I was visiting and staying. Both were depressed.
Coming back from Lisbon I had gained only a quarter pound, coming back from Chiang Mai I'd lost more than that, but coming back from my trip to florida, I'd put on over four pounds - but I lost it in my first couple of days back!
I am so lucky!
Things back at home changed while I was gone, too. My absence ended up with my being replaced in Modafferi - very disappointing, I loved playing in that band.
Worse, medical problems with the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter have caused I am Fool to go on performing hiatus.
I am at loose ends musically, for the first time since I came to Syracuse.
It took a lot of processing to deal with my disappointment with the Modafferi situation. It was immediately emotional, partially because it has never been officially acknowledged, and my one contact, with many attempts for more, was almost encouraging to think I might be wrong about my status.
But I'm back, new opportunities have already started coming in, and I am grateful for them, and all the other life opportunities served up to me in the past and awaiting me in the future.
